“Free the child’s potential, and you will transform him into the world”
- Maria Montessori

What is Montessori?

Montessori is a comprehensive educational approach from birth to adulthood based on the observation of children's needs in a variety of cultures all around the world.

Beginning her work almost a century ago, Dr. Maria Montessori developed this educational approach based on her understanding and observation of children's natural learning tendencies as they unfold in prepared environments for multi-age groups.

The Montessori environment contains specially designed, manipulative materials that invite children to engage in learning activities of their own individual choice. Under the guidance of a trained teacher, children in a Montessori classroom learn by making discoveries with the materials, cultivating concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning.

Today, Montessori schools are found worldwide, serving children from birth through adolescence. In the United States, there are more than 4,000 private Montessori schools and close to 200 public schools with Montessori programs.

Programs We Offer

Younger Toddler

Ages 12 months – 20 months

Our Younger Toddler Montessori Program is designed for comprehensive individual development at the child’s natural pace. Caring and learning are inseparable. Montessori trained caregivers provide “on demand” care in an environment that maximizes mobility. A child who feels safe also feels free to grow, move, and explore the surroundings. This provides an optimal opportunity to engage emerging physical, sensorial, perceptual, cognitive, and social skills. From birth, babies are marvelous learners, immediately investigating the sights, sounds, and feel of the world. In our low ratio classrooms, each child develops a sense of being a separate, independent self, which comes from being treated as an important individual.

Older Toddler

Ages 20 months – 36 months

Our nurturing older Montessori Toddler Program is based on solid research on early childhood education and child development. Toddlers explore their rich classroom environments, building speech and language skills, practical life skills, and fine and gross motor skills. Our creative Montessori Toddler curriculum promotes language and cognitive development. Hands-on learning materials and age appropriate Montessori activities. Art, music and movement are designed to meet the developmental needs of our toddlers. The Montessori trained teachers work hard to ensure that our toddlers are well prepared for the transition to Children's House preschool at the next level.
